It is also important to never use any wax based products on surface finishes as this might destroy it completely. Engineered hardwood floors should be protected as much as possible from all chemicals.

Any spills should be wiped up right away and if you have some stubborn staines that you haven't noticed immediately and have become in the meantime difficult to remove, use only cleaning solutions that are recommended by the wood manufacturer. If you are not sure who the manufacturer of your particular plansk of wood is, then use only generic hardwood floor cleaners that you can find at any local wood flooring shops. Don't use any products with chemicals or chlorine in them.

For high traffic areas make sure to add a few rugs or mats that will prevent the hardwood flooring catch scratches from chairs pushes around at home, from high heels leaving their marks or even pet paws. Engineered flooring is really sensitive to these marks and scratches on its surface.
